Tommy Boy, aka “Scooby Doo” (Adopted!)

tommyboy21

hi everybody my name is Tommy Boy!  i’m a great dane mix, an’ i’m ’round 7 months old.  i’ve been here at hsgkc since May, but was really, really sick… like no one could figure out what was goin’ on with me.  i went to see a special doggy doc called an in-tur-nisst at VCA Mission MedVet, an’ she was real nice an’ our humans got me healthy.  see, i had parvovirus bad, an’ after I recovered from that it made me have some tummy problems an’ i wasn’t gainin’ weight an’ didn’t wanna eat much ’cause for a while all the stuff i tried to eat made me feel sick.  our humans wanted to make sure i was real healthy before letting other humans know i’m ready for adoption, an’ i am better!!!!  i’m doin’ awesome… like back in May, i only weighed 33.5 pounds, an’ now i weigh almost 66 pounds!!!!  k, so that’s some of my history, now onto the more fun stuff.

i get to blog today to talk about the Plaza Art Fair ’cause i get to go an’ i’m real excited ’cause it’ll be my very first satellite adoption event (i know how to spell some big words ’cause i’m a smart boy)! the Plaza Art Fair is a real big deal for doggies ’cause i’ve heard lots of doggies get adopted, so our humans, ‘specially Christine (she fostered me for a month to help me get better, so i know she really loves me, even tho i know i tested her patience sometimes…’cause i’m a busy boy) will be workin’ real hard to get doggies to their forever homes!  i can’t wait to meet new humans, an’ really hope some real special, patient humans come along an’ want to give me a forever home!  plus, i think our humans get somethin’ called “donations”, too, like stuff they need to take care of us, toys for us, an’ other things humans need!  anyways, i’m so excited to go!  i hope i do good!  if you want more info about the Plaza Art Fair, check out our website for details… i’d fill you in more, but that’s not all i wanna talk about.

i wanna talk ’bout the kinda forever home i’d like, just a lil bit.  i’d love to have a doggy friend or 2 ’cause i LOVE playin’ with other dogs!!! Bandit‘s my roommie (an’ i love him), but i’ve been in play groups with Nemo, Radar, Titan, an’ Denver an’ Dakota (they got adopted last week together! we’re all happy for them ’cause they’re sweet an’ needed to go to a home together). Nemo, Denver an’ Dakota would play tug with me, an’ even with all 3 of them pullin’ on the rope, i’d win!  i’ve got LOTS of energy an’ i’ve heard our humans say i’m a “busy” boy, an’ i am, ’cause there’s just so much stuff to check out!  i’ve started obedience classes, an’ am real smart, too!  i’m workin’ on leash manners, but ’cause i am kinda “busy” an’ wanna check out everything, i kinda pull a lil on a leash!  i love the Pack Walks, too! those are lots of fun!

ruh-roh, i think i’ve been blogging too long!  oops, i didn’t mean to, i just had lots to say!  if you wanna learn more ’bout me, check me out on petfinder, an’ please come out to the Plaza Art Fair!  bye!

Hi!  I’m happy ’cause Dexter got adopted, which is cool, and I got a new roommate.  Her name is Zelda.  I’ll let her tell ya more ’bout her when she gets to blog, but I REALLY like her!  We have lots of fun playin’ in the yard together, and when all the other dogs in the kennel are quiet, we wrestle and play real quiet so we don’t wake up the others.  I’m excited ’cause I found out I’m gonna be on the Pet Telethon tonight, too!! Maybe someone will see me and wanna give me a forever home…

I’m a silly girl who loves to RUN!  I run circles ’round other dogs! Christine took some pictures of me, Zelda and Grizzly playin’ together in a play group the other day and had a hard time gettin’ all 3 of us in the same picture ’cause I was runnin’ circles ’round Zelda and Grizzly!! So, I’d really love to live with an active family who’d take me for walks, or runs, or hiking, and it’d be really cool if I had a doggy brother or sister to play with.  I haven’t been “cat tested” yet, whatever that means, but our humans think I’d probly’ be ok with cats ’cause I’m good with little dogs. One thing I do need is a tall fence, or somethin’ like that ’cause I jump the fences here, mostly just to check out what’s goin’ on in the other yards.  If I’m in a play group, I usually stay in the yard.  I’m curious, and I can jump, so why not?  If you wanna learn more about me and how our adoption process works, you can find out more on the HSGKC website.

Watch for me on the Pet Telethon tonight!  It’s from 6:30 to 9:30pm on 38 The Spot. Gotta go… I need to get some exercise and then I get a bath for my TV debut!  Bye!!

Hi, my name is Aster!  I’m super excited ’cause I’m in the main kennel now and already have a roommate!  His name is Dexter, and even though we didn’t show our best sides to each other the first time we met, we get along great now!  He’s pretty nice, we just had to spend some more time gettin’ to know each other!  I love Dexter now!  He is fun to run around an’ play with, an’ we get to snuggle together at night, which is cool, too!!  I like bein’ out in the kennel ’cause there’s lots of stuff goin’ on.  I’m a silly, very sweet girl with lots of energy an’ I really love to play with other dogs!  Okay, that’s all for now, there’s lots to see an’ I’m still tryin’ to figure out who all these other dogs are.

Hi!  I’m happy and sad today… happy because Ivy is going to her forever home tomorrow, and a lil sad ’cause I really like playing with her and Dexter and will miss our play groups.  I’m pretty sure our humans will find a couple other dogs for me to play with, though.

Because Ivy found her forever home, I wanna tell you about my ideal home.  I would really like another dog to live with, but I have to be the boss in the relationship!  Since I need to be the boss, I can be a lil picky about my doggy friends, but that’s part of Christine’s job… trying to make good human and doggy matches for us. I love most humans, toys (I really like carrying around stuffed toys in my mouth), I’m wiggly, very pretty, and smart, too.  I’m in Intermediate Level Obedience Classes at The Dogs’ Spot.  I do need a home without little humans ’cause they make me a bit nervous, and I’m not real comfortable around them.  In the past I have been a bit shy when I’ve met new humans, but am much better than I was when I first came in.

If you want to learn more about me, check me out on petfinder.com. I’m going to bed a lil early tonight so I have plenty of energy to play with Ivy before she goes home.

Dexter, the Big Bro (Adopted!)

Hey!  I wanted to type somethin’ up for you guys earlier about the fun day we had at the Brookside Barkey & Bath and at the parade, but was really tired this weekend and then I was in a play group with Ivy and Bella today. I’ve been very busy!  So, the satellite adoption event and parade (human things us dogs don’t understand) were a lot of fun. We (me, Ivy, Aster, Maddox, Grizzly, and some dogs who are in foster homes) had so much fun.  It was awesome!!  We made friends with a lot of new people and they loved us.  We got lots of pets, treats, and extra attention which is what makes going to events sooooo much fun.  All of us were really good!

saw Austin meet his new sister on Sunday, and ’cause they liked each other, he went to his forever home.  Since there have been a few adoptions, especially of the younger pups, I thought I’d tell you a bit about the home I would like.  I’m great with humans, little humans (kids), and most other dogs.  I’d LOVE to go to a home like Austin did, with another dog.  I don’t always like bein’ left alone, so another dog to hang and play with would be AWESOME!  I walk nicely on a leash most of the time, too.  Also, I started obedience classes at The Dogs’ Spot, too.

If you wanna learn more about me, you should check me out on petfinder.com, and if you wanna meet, you can fill out an application online and Christine will talk to you about me to find out if we would make a good match.  All for now… I’m pooped!!  Ivy and Bella had me runnin’ round like crazy.

Hey two-legger’s!  What’s goin’ on with all ya’ll?  All of us are pretty tired ‘cuz yesterday was a hap-nin’ kinda day.  Some of the dogs, Ivy, Dexter, Maddox an’ a few others who haven’t blogged yet, went to a parade an’, satellite event yesterday in Brookside.  All of ’em seemed tired when they got back.  Me an’ some of the other dogs decided to hang here an’ take advantage of the volunteers who came in… since there weren’t as many of us here I gotta go on like 3 walks, which was awesome.  I even snagged a coupla french fries from Christine, our adoptions human. They were really tasty an’ since I don’t have ta watch what I eat, I tried ta get more, but she only let me have 2.  Anyways, I loved goin on all the walks, enjoyin’ the nice weather an’ sunshine, an’ of, course, all the treats.  I really like walks and am kinda startin’ to figure out how to walk on a leash a lil nicer… but it’s just so much fun to pull the humans around!  They’re all impressed with my strength.

I might as well tell ya’ll ’bout the kinda home I’d like to have.  I wanna be the ONLY pet, I don’t wanna share any attention with other dogs, especially not cats… they’re weird creatures an’ so hard to figure out… anyway back to me.  I’d also like a big yard to run an’ play in, but you gots ta have a tall fence ‘cuz I can climb (kinda cool trick, huh, ‘specially ‘cuz of my size).  I’d probly be ok with older 2-legged’ kids, but ‘cuz of my strength, an’ how good I’m gonna look when I’ve gained more weight, I’d be a bit much for real lil humans.  I do love grown-up 2-leggers, an’ show my appreciation when they hang with me by givin’ hugs an’ kisses.  All for now… I think we’re gettin’ ready for another walk soon.

Boisterous Bella (Adopted!)

Hi, my name is Bella, and I’m a lil overdue to introduce myself.  I am a very pretty girl (or so I’ve been told), with really expressive ears.  I can be a bit timid when I meet new humans, and little humans kinda scare me.  I’m not as shy as I was when I came here, but the humans who take care of me are helpin me learn to trust.  Today was fun for me ’cause the weather is so nice, and I gotta play with Ivy and Dexter in a play group which is lots of fun.  I love my play time with my friends.  Gotta go…all that playin made me tired so I think I’m gonna take a nap.

Big Brother, Dexter (Adopted!)

Hi, my name is Dexter, and our humans call me a “big brother” because I like the company of younger dogs and dogs who are smaller than me.  I am happy for my roommate, Alexi, because she is being adopted today and going to a really awesome family with a sister (which is good because Alexi loves to play with other dogs).  Since Alexi is going to her forever home, and I am such a good big bro, I have a new roommate already named Ivy.  She’s a lot of fun and has even more energy than Alexi, but that’s ok… she might wear me out though!  More later… time to settle in for the night.
